Rafael Moreira - Part Trois? That would be 3...
There is a letter writing campaign going on to get ROCKSTAR back for a third season. Visit ROCKBAND.COM

Well, about 2 months have passed, since I last talked to Rafael, and he is now the only official Triple interviewee on Rocksquad.net. What a bonus for me, as well as you guys.  Seeing we are doing a week tribute to the members of the Houseband, it only seemed fitting to call Rafa and bug him to come back for a third interview, even if I could only steal him for a few minutes.  He is always a busy guy, but always willing to share that time with his fans...

I invite you to read a bit more about the Blitz from Brazil and some of the plans for this summer, and maybe an update about that long awaited Magnetico album that I have been asking him about. As always, the ever entertaining Rafael Moreira.

Darrin: Rafa, I know it has been ages since we last spoke, I guess the last interview was in January...but with this full Houseband week, it is not right to not come back and get some updates from you. Thank you for coming back at such short notice

Rafa, tell me a bit about your musical background when you were a kid in Brasil. How young were you when you picked up the guitar, and how old when you started gigging?

Rafa: I started to play guitar at the age of six pretty much because of KISS and The Rolling Stones, I was about eight when me and my brothers started to gig as rock power trio! We also played some jazz and Brazilian music with my mother who is a great pianist!

Darrin: What was your first rig? First guitar and amp?

Rafa: My first guitar was called " Jennifer " and it was like a Fender Jaguar or some like that! My amp was a little combo and I had a distortion pedal which was bigger than a brick!

Darrin: What was the music scene like in Brasil?

Rafa: At that age all we wanted to do was to play Rock and we got to do that all the time, since every kid had a rock band and we had no problems in playing at the clubs!! It was truly a blast!

Darrin: When and how did you make the decision to come to the States?

Rafa: My parents sent me to a music school in LA in September of 1995.

Darrin: Now that the first leg of the domestic tour with Paul Stanley is over, are you looking forward to the April leg over in Australia?

Rafa: Definitely!

Darrin: Do you think there will be more Paul Stanley shows in the summer?

Rafa: I don't know.

Darrin: I know you are endorsed by Gibson, but I saw you on the Minarik Guitar site, and have seen you shredding on You Tube with a Minarik. How did you meet up with these guys?

Rafa: I know a guy named John Ferrante which was representing Minarik guitars at the time and he asked me to do a video!

Darrin: Is there any further updates on the Magnetico release?

Rafa: Hopefully this year sometime!

Darrin: I heard you did some session work lately, once after some guys heard Magnetico playing?

Rafa: We were playing a gig in Hollywood w/Magnetico and this Italian Producers heard us play and really liked the way we played together, so they asked me to bring the band to the studio to record a few songs with Vasco Rossi, which is the biggest Rock singer in Italy!

Darrin: Is your music career becoming what you wished for as a kid, just starting out? What are some things that you would like to accomplish in the next few years?

Rafa: I feel that I'm a very fortunate guy, I've played for millions of people on TV and I've played for thousands LIVE in concerts!! But now I have a different dream and I'm working on getting there as we speak! That would be the same thing I've done, but with my music instead...

Darrin Last one, since I asked the other guys these kinds of things. Tell me a bit about your thoughts on:

Paul Mirkovich:

Rafa: Paul is just a great Musical Director and a musician all around!

Sasha Kristov:

Rafa: Sasha is an amazing bass player and artist, I can't describe his artistry with words , but I'm still better at Ping Pong!!

Nate Morton:

Rafa: Nate's every band's Dream Drummer, too bad he's not in my own band!

Zakk Wylde: Yes, Zakk, I know it is random...but I love Zakk. Do you dig his playing?

Rafa: I love Zakk's playing, his is one of my influences!

Darrin: Thanks again Rafa, we will be waiting to see you come through our city some time soon..
